Briantea84 wheelchair Basketball

The Unipol Assicurazioni supports basketball with the Briantea84 Sports Association, which has been dedicated to the development of sports for the disabled for many years.

With this sponsorship Unipol Assicurazioni wishes to reiterate its support for Briantea84 in a major challenge: eliminating the architectural and ideological barriers against people with disabilities and promoting, in addition to fun and sportsmanship, comparison with other groups to encourage real integration.

The Unipol Assicurazioni brand is featured on the uniforms of athletes belonging to the basketball, wheelchair basketball and mini-basketball and BIOS disabled teams, and is displayed on the association website and communication materials prepared for the many initiatives organised by Briantea84 for the sports and human growth of its athletes, as well as for the social and cultural enrichment of the community and society.

Since 2008, Briantea84 has been involved in an inclusive cultural promotion project, i.e. an action plan aiming to raise awareness about the company with its now over forty-year history and at spreading the values of Paralympic sports among school children of all school levels, teenagers in church recreational services, and athletes and managers of sports clubs. Over 17 years, approximately 45,000 young people, aged 6 to 19, belonging to five provinces of Lombardy were involved: Como, Lecco, Milan, Monza Brianza, Varese.

The project is structured according to the needs, possibilities and requirements of the schools that come into contact with Briantea84; it aims to transmit values such as resilience, strength and ability to redeem oneself and positive cheering, while teaching how dangerous bullying can be.

The program has been expanding every year, while remaining faithful to the commitment of free admission for those who request it.

During the 2023-24 school year, 84 meetings were held, covering 2,700 kilometres: the distance from Cantù to Valencia and back. The numbers show that 4,934 young people were involved in schools, church recreational services and sports clubs (up 1,500 compared to the previous year).
